Maruti-Suzuki has had its fair share of struggles, of that there is no doubt – that too bearing in mind it is India’s most successful car-maker. This was a segment that hadn’t tasted stardom with the then Baleno and SX4 sedan. But things are about to change with the face-lifted version of the Ciaz in sight. Maruti is clearly betting big on this model for obvious reasons, and with rivalry from Honda and Hyundai – who’ve been upping the game consistently – it’s about time!
A first glance reveals that the Ciaz is now a little sharper to look at: a refreshed radiator grille with chrome bordering it, new LED headlamps, slightly reworked tail lamps with LED clusters and plastic elements around the corners of the rear bumper – all add to a slightly fresher look. Then there are the gun-metal grey 16-inch alloys that look particularly stylish, shod with 195-section tyres. By now, you will have noticed that the changes have, by no means, been initiated by leaps and bounds, but are quite apparent.
Another trick up the Maruti Ciaz’s sleeve lies in its ride quality which happens to be exemplary. You can throw at it any amount of pot holes and road pimples – and the Ciaz is bound to leave you stoked at how seamlessly it manages undulations – playing an integral part in this being the quiet NVH levels of course.
The trump card of course is its price tag. At under 11-lakh rupees, it offers a lot of car for your money: a silky petrol motor, fantastic ride quality, roomy interiors and a host of other goodies. It may not be a driver’s car, or have a lovely sunroof, but as a practical, daily-driver, this baby is spoken for. Do look out for our in-depth Maruti Ciaz Review to find out more.
